A little more than 5 months after Hurricane Ike all but wiped the little fishing community of Oak Island off the map the town continues to rebuild. With the help of Hooter’s a new sign now welcomes those who come to Oak Island. On Thursday September 11, 2008 Harris County officials issued a mandatory evacuation order for residents living in the following ZIP codes: 77058, 77059, 77062, 77520, 77546, 77571, 77586 and 77598.
Hurricane Ike currently a category 2 going towards Galveston, TX.

西インド諸島で発生した大型ハリケーン「アイク」(Hurricane Ike)が、9月13日にアメリカ南部テキサス州メキシコ湾岸ガルベストン付近に上陸し、全米第4の都市ヒューストンを直撃! 甚大な被害をもたらし、上陸後およそ10日経った9月22日においても、まだヒューストンの約50%はライフラインが復旧せず、都市機能がまひしたままになっています。今回、この大型ハリケーン「アイク」のヒューストン直撃の模様を一部始終ビデオカメラに収めることができました。まずは、(1)として、「アイク」上陸前の「嵐の前の静けさ」を掲載しますが、M.D.アンダーソンがんセンターでは被害を心配し、PCデータのバックアップなどをしました。そして、ガルベストンはついに高潮に襲われ海に沈み、ヒューストンにもいよいよ嵐の気配が。
