My finance and I are getting married November 21. We are going to Galveston for a week for our honeymoon. I was wondering if the weather is usually good enough for hanging out at the beach and/or swimming in the ocean??
It depends on whether there’s a front moving through. If it’s calm, it can be pleasant–cool temps and little wind. I’d say way too cold for swimming, unless you’re from Wisconsin or something.
But, if a front is coming/has just come, it’ll be windy as hell and downright cold. Makes for good beachcombing because the north wind pushes the water out, but you really don’t want to be lounging on the beach or swimming. Congrats on the upcoming wedding, and enjoy your honeymoon, whatever you decide to do. There are plenty "non-beachy" activities to do in Galveston, and that time of year, you don’t have to fight off too many tourists to do them.

I only swim in the Gulf from May til September. It could be different for others. The water is too cold for me. Depending on the weather, you can still go to the beach and have fun, though.

It will probably be a bit too cool to go swiming. You can still have a good time.

I’d say the beaches would be nice for romantic walks & stuff but I think the water will be a bit chilly for swimming by then. Congratulations !

That is my eldest daughter’s birthday. She has always wanted a swim party but it’s just too cold. Galveston will be nice & empty though with a clean beach for a stroll and maybe a nice fire going in the fireplace at night.
