Whether you think Galveston will be more fun than Houston is completely dependant on what you like to do. I love Galveston, but you'll find people on here who hate it and think there isn't anything to do. It's roughly 45 minutes to an hour from Houston, btw. Out of your 3 hotel choices, I'd choose the Galvez. It's a gorgeous, historic building. But, the rooms are too small for some people's tastes, so keep that in mind. Also, depending on how old your daughter is, staying at Moody Gardens might be better for you. If you plan on doing all of the attractions a Moody Gardens, staying on site would cut down on a lot of travel. But, it's not on the beach like the Galvez and the San Luis are. So, it's completely up to you and your tastes and interests. The San Luis is probably the "nicest" and Moody Gardens is probably the most updated. All 3 hotels are great properties though, so you can't really go wrong with any of them. Have fun if you come to Galveston. Post back if you have any questions on activities or restaurant suggestions.
References :
galveston resident
