I will be leaving on Oct. 26 and need some general advise and any tips you might have about the ship or the shore ecursions. does anyone now what the weather will be like?

We have sailed the Ecstasy twice.

Looks like you are on the 5-day itinerary, stopping in Progresso and Cozumel.

First advice, park at Lighthouse Parking instead of the cruise terminal. Lighthouse will shuttle you and your luggage to the cruise terminal. Once you arrive and hand you bags over to the porters, you can enter the cruise terminal. If you park at the cruise terminal, you have to drop off your luggage, park the car and then return to the cruise terminal for embarkation. Make an advance reservation at: http://lighthouseparking.org/ You will save a few bucks over terminal parking. Don’t just drive up…they can sell out quick.

Progresso – is still a developing port and still looks old Mexico. The dock is about 2 miles long and you have to take a bus to the town. There are shops at the dock as well as an open air market at the bus stop. Take along plenty of $1, 5 and 10s for shopping in the open air market. Bargain with the vendors in the market. It is a part of the experience.

If you like history and don’t mind walking you can opt for the tours of the Mayan ruins, Chichen Itza or Dzibilchaltun. The Mayan Jeep tour was good. We zoomed around the countryside in open topped Jeeps and we checked out some of the neat sites. The stop included an old cemetery.

There are tons of things to do in Coz. The Cavern by Jeep tour are great! The submarine trip was a bit boring. Playa Mia Beach Break was enjoyable for the whole family.

October temps are between 70-80 degrees. Take along a light jacket for evenings and when you get closer back to Galveston.

The Ecstasy is a smaller 70-ton ship and I always feel more motion on this ship than the larger ships. The Ecstasy has not rec’d the Fantasy class upgrade yet. She is showing her age (18 years old) but she is still fun.

The spa techs on the Ecstasy are nice but they really push the products.

One Comment to “Has anyone been on the Carnival Ecstasy from Galveston, TX?”
