Hey guys! My best friend and I are going on our first cruise out of Galveston on RC. We are headed to Key West, Cayman, and Cozumel. Need advice on packing, excursions, etc. Also, has anyone ever been on RC? What’s the boat like, activities on ship, etc?
Hey guys! My best friend and I are going on our first cruise out of Galveston on RC. We are headed to Key West, Cayman, and Cozumel. Need advice on packing, excursions, etc. Also, has anyone ever been on RC? What’s the boat like, activities on ship, etc? We are on the Rhapsody of the Seas in an oceanview cabin. My biggest concern right now is that we are at the VERY front of the ship on deck 2.
What to pack?
"What are the dress codes onboard?
There are three distinct types of evenings onboard: casual, smart casual and formal. Suggested guidelines for these nights are: Casual: Sport shirts and slacks for men, sundresses or pants for women
Smart Casual: Jackets and ties for men, dresses or pantsuits for women
Formal: Suits and ties or tuxedos for men, cocktail dresses for women
3 to 4 – night cruises include one formal night and the remainder nights are casual.
5 – night cruises include one formal and the remainder nights casual.
6 – night cruises include two formal nights, one smart casual and the remainder nights casual. 7 to 9 – night cruises include two formal nights, one smart casual night and the remainder nights casual."

On shore excursions…
In caymans…dont do the "Hell" one. This is a waste of time and money…Stingray city is good, snorkeling…or if you want to just go to a beach and lay out…..get off the boat, actually the ferry, because you will be tendered in (no shore trips from the boat is needed)
Take a left and walk about two blocks down on the left and go to the famous 7 mile beach and relax…
Cozumel, you can do shore tour from the boat OR…it is totally safe to get a cab (they will be lined up) go down town on your own, go shopping, eat, OR take a cab to the park, there they have swimming with the dolphins, a beach area, and cabana bars with some ruins there. cab around about 10.00 the park is 10.00 to get in.
Key west, safe to go on your own there or do a shore tour…here is a website for the tours…

it depends on what ship you are on! put more info!
p.s. i went on a royal caribbean cruise to the bahamas and it was the best time i’ve ever had. wonderful wonderful food! be sure to try the vanilla ice cream when they have it, it has pineapple and coconut in it! divine.. also on our ship my sister and i got facials for 25 dollars, very nice and cheap! also, very nice music.. make sure you see the shows.
edit: i really can’t say enough about my trip, it was fantastic. as far as packing goes, make sure to bring proper attire for dinner. the number of formal dinners should be listed on your itinerary.

Hey, you are going to love this trip. While some of the ships that sail the caribbean by RC are a bit older and look like a badly decorated hotel, Rhapsody of the Seas is a nice ship.
Dress for warm weather, pack for warm weather, but throw in a pair of jeans and a sweatshirt for nights out on deck. Make sure to take something nice to wear for dinners (formal and casual – no jeans in the main dining room).
Check our all the excursions that RC has to offer on their website. Here is a link…

I REALLY suggest booking your excursions before you go. That way when they send you your tickets in the mail, you already have your tickets for your excursion. If you can do it, try snorkelling or scuba diving…you will NOT regret it!
Make sure to check out the following on the ship:
*nightly shows that include guests of the ship onstage – HILARIOUS
*midnight buffet’s
*catch the sunrise/sunset
Warning…all the pools are salt water, not fresh water. (This was a big deal from where I’m from b/c we do not have salt water pools).
Take your own shampoo…especially if you’re swimming in the ocean.
Hmm I think that’s it. Have a great time!! You’ll never regret going
