I am going on the Carnival Conquest leaving out of Galveston. We booked the basic state room. Are the bathrooms self-contained-meaning–is the toilet, shower, sink etc. all closed off from the rest of the bed and such or is just the toilet and shower in the bathroom and then the vanity outside?

The bathrooms are self-contained. Everything is inside the bathroom. The shower, sink/vanity, mirror and toilet. You have a door for privacy. It is usually a pretty good size bathroom.

Hope I helped!

Im going to Texas in May to watch a soccer game in Houston (Reliant Stadium) i was thinking instead of staying in houston, maybe Galveston will be fun? its not too far right? ive never been there, but i went on their website, and i think it will be more fun then houston. am i wrong???? im also in love with 3 hotels! (just from seeing pics from the sites) the st luis, mooody gardens, and hotel galvez….. which one is the nicest???? they are all around same price, so i want the nicest room/ pool/ restaurant. do u think i should even stay in galveston? it will be me and my boyfriend’s 1st vacation without our daughter, so we want something fun!!!

I love the San Luis. Moody Gardens is a mini Disneyworld & the Galvez was hit pretty bad during Ike so I would check on it’s status.

Paperback, Galveston: A History of the Island

Coming down the coastal prairie from Houston on Interstate 45, you can smell the ghosts before you can see or hear them. They smell sweet and moldy, like the unfocused memory of some lost sensation jarred unexpectedly to mind . — from chapter oneGalveston — a small, flat island off the Texas Gulf coast — has seen some of the state s most amazing history and fascinating people. First settled by the Karankawa Indians, long suspected of cannibalism, it was where the stranded Cabeza de Vaca came ashore in the 16th century. Pirate Jean Lafitte used it as a hideout in the early 1800s and both General Sam Houston and General James Long (with his wife, Jane, the Mother of Texas ) stayed on its shores. More modern notable names on the island include Robert Kleberg and the Moody, Sealy and Kempner families who dominated commerce and society well into the twentieth century.Captured by both sides during the Civil War and the scene of a devastating sea battle, the city flourished during Reconstruction and became a lead

As native Houstonian, I would advise you to research a bit more than normal before staying in Galveston. Hurricane Ike in 2008 was more devastating than many realize. The tourist areas are renewed, but other parts of town that include hotels and the like could still be in decay, making you a target for theft.

Staying in the southeast suburbs of Houston may be a good fit since you could make equidistant trips to both Reliant Stadium and the attractions in Galveston.

Renting a house or a condo would be a great idea, and there are a lot of choices for rentals in the Galveston area. I’m not sure how much you are looking to spend, so I would say that it’s best to do your homework and use online research to find available places to stay that fit within your budget.

Rather than give you a specific property name and location, I would suggest that you do some research on the available houses/condos, the prices and the locations. I have used justvr.com in the past and it was quite helpful for narrowing down my choices and booking a few nights stay.

What are the transportation options from Houston Intercontinental Airport to the Galveston cruise ports and how much do they cost.

That would be the Carnival Conquest and the Carnival Ecstasy.

The terminal is 70 miles from the airport. You can park there for $11.25 a day. You can take a taxi as well or rent a car one way. There are also transfers for a fee.
Please contact Carnival for price.

Hope I helped!
